Hello! I am Matthew Wu, a web developer and creative coder.
I am currently...

The Stack: On Software and Sovereignty by Benjamin H. Bratton
I grew up in upstate New York. My academic background (I attended Bowdoin College in Maine) is in political philosophy, and my professional life began at an education startup in Beijing. I've spent the past years living in Beijing, Taipei, and Shanghai, working in different industries. I've since returned to the States and have been working full-time as a software engineer.
When I started coding, I found that philosophy and education aren't that different from coding: the logical thinking and organizational skills I had been developing translated to software development.
My background has informed my approach to coding: I try to bring an interdisicplinary approach, and an openness to expanding the idea of what a digital product can be. I'm constantly learning new tech, as everything we learn helps us learn the next thing better.
I currently work as a fullstack engineer for an early stage startup. I also dabble in
creative coding and generative art. Feel free to get in touch.
